Combined safety and fuel-saver training

In addition to driving safety training, this one-day special programme deals with a topic that is becoming increasingly important for companies: fuel saving. The first part of the training consists of the key elements of the intensive programme, which are compactly trained. On different training tracks the participants will experience for themselves how various factors influence reaction and stopping distance. They will learn about their own limits but also about those imposed by technology and by the laws of physics. This hands-on experience will help them in practice to assess critical situations realistically and to avoid dangers from the very beginning.

The second part of the training focuses on a fuel-saving style of driving. It takes place on the Sachsenring circuit, which – due to its specific layout with numerous uphill and downhill stretches – is ideally suited to this kind of training. In order to simulate a realistic road cycle, bus stops will be set up around the circuit. Guided by a specially trained instructor, the participants will see how much a smooth and foresighted, and therefore safe, way of driving can help to reduce fuel consumption.

Main topics

  • Optimum stopping distance on straights and on downhill stretches and the factors influencing it
  • Causes of understeer and oversteer, and how to avoid them
  • Optimum emergency braking
  • Swerving to avoid suddenly appearing obstacles
  • Driving along a realistically designed route (with bus stops and schedule) WITHOUT instructions → calculation of fuel consumption
  • Driving along the same route WITH instructions → calculation of fuel consumption
  • Permanent theoretical and practical training
